Community impact
Measure what matters. Report what is real.
The network intends to build a transparent measurement framework alongside its operating model — avoiding headline claims that cannot be supported.
These are proposed measures, not results. The initiative has no operational impact figures to report.
Materials diverted from waste
Record weight or volume with source and destination where reliable.
Resources reused or repaired
Count completed outcomes, separating reuse, repair and recycling.
Local exchanges facilitated
Record completed connections rather than listings alone.
Participating organisations
Track active participation by sector and geography.
Community activities supported
Record workshops, repair sessions and community-led activity.
Estimated local value retained
Use a published, cautious method and label estimates clearly.
Evaluation principles
Useful evidence over impressive numbers.
Measurement should be proportionate, consistent and useful to participating communities. Baselines, assumptions and gaps should be visible, and environmental claims should distinguish avoided disposal, reuse, repair and recycling.
Qualitative learning — including barriers, unintended effects and who is not being reached — will matter alongside numerical indicators.
