Community before profit
Design decisions should begin with the long-term needs of local people and places.
Our vision
Mid Wales has the resources, skills and relationships to become more self-sustaining. Our role is to help make the connections easier to see and act upon.
Mid Wales Circular Network is a working name for an initiative in research and development.
Our mission
“To build a stronger, more connected and self-sustaining Mid Wales by keeping resources, skills and wealth circulating within our local communities.”
Our principles
These principles will guide research, partnership development and the design of any future service.
Design decisions should begin with the long-term needs of local people and places.
Help more spending, skills and useful assets circulate within the region.
Make better use of what already exists before extracting, buying or transporting more.
Connect existing work and infrastructure rather than recreating it.
Reduce avoidable waste and journeys through practical local coordination.
Be clear about decisions, evidence, limitations and how value is created.
Create routes for agriculture, industry, public services and communities to contribute.
Structure and stewardship
The initiative is exploring the most appropriate non-profit or community-benefit structure. This work will consider governance, accountability, member voice and the practical responsibilities involved in operating a regional network.
It is not currently incorporated and is not a registered charity. Any future structure, fundraising approach or membership model will be communicated clearly once determined.
Take part
We welcome early conversations with councils, community organisations, farmers, businesses and people with relevant local knowledge.
